A warm welcome to the page of Black Circle Jewellery; a small independent maker of fine contemporary jewellery & hand-poured luxury candles.

About Victoria

Black Circle founder Victoria Spooner is a fully qualified, independent jeweller based in the heart of the Lincolnshire Wolds. Distinctly modernist, her work reflects inspirations born from the pioneering art practices & philosophies of the Russian Avant-Garde - namely Suprematism - and of British Modernism.

Adopting constant consideration and unity between material and the respective processes, Victoria combines strong compositional values with both traditional and modern silversmithing techniques; exhaustively perfecting primary structural elements - congruous in their spatial relation to the body of the wearer.

Victoria completed her degree in Jewellery & Object Design at the University of Lincoln in 2015; continuing to 2016 as Artist in Residence.

Alongside her Black Circle Collection of timeless classics designed & made to last; Victoria makes one-of-a-kind pieces incorporating stones or varying compositions. Whether one of a kind or made to order, every single part of the jewellery is made by hand - Victorias primary design process.

I design with my hands, freely observing the material properties within the realms of intrinsic composition. I feel when something is right, and see the balance in form.'“

Modernist Forms, Designed To Treasure, Made To Last.

Black Circle | The Workshop

Victoria moved to The Old Post Office in Hainton, Lincolnshire, August 2020. Set in the heart of the Wolds, it has served the local area for over a century, first as a general store with the later addition of the post office, which ceased to trade in 2019.

Filled with character - old wooden shelving & original counter tops; Victoria has lovingly restored the space, preserving the charm found within the history. It now presents as an open studio, with one area dedicated to the bench, and the rest to the display of Victorias work. Customers are warmly welcomed; wether shopping, meeting or simply visiting - the space is relaxed and comfortable.

All of the jewellery & candles are made on site in the workshop. Visitors can expect to see the the making of the works alongside displayed finished pieces. Victoria works alone, making Black Circle a small scale & intimate operation, offering repairs, bespoke commissions, and wedding jewellery, along with the opportunity to browse all available works. On-site jewellery cleaning & general repairs can be accommodated on a whilst you wait basis.

The workshop is open throughout the year, please visit the workshop page for further details r.e opening times and private viewings. You can access this by clicking here.
